The more I think about this the more I wonder how bad an idea this is. New Caledonia IS a tropical island right? I imagine there are some rain storms there? Isn't showering them with water similar to what a rain storm might be like on the islands? They do not SOAK in the water but just have water showered on them. I would think this might help. Comments are welcome.

Re: Stuck shed

Anytime I have had to rehydrate a leachie, I have found great success in using a plastic shoebox, moist paper towels, a few pieces of cork bark, and a water dish.
I don't think it is natural for a leachie to be in water, out in the open. I am sure could stress them out. It is possible they might come in contact with rain and water, but not out in the open. They spend most of their time on the side or in the hollows of trees. Can't really see them swimming in puddles.

Also if an animal is having trouble shedding, he is already stressed.

Just my opinion.

Prevention is the key, dry air is the enemy!!

Re: Stuck shed

if a shower is to be used, I'd highly suggest getting a 60 qt. rubbermaid or sterilite container, drilling a few 1/4 holes in the bottom, and hot gluing a large section of screen on the top. Be sure to elevate the bin 6-12 inches off the bottom of the tub, and make sure the holes in the bottom can't get blocked. Shove some fake plants/vines in there and you've got yourself a rain chamber .
Used this for several years with Uroplatus and chameleons.

You slay me with your brilliant wit. Maybe next time you come by, we can all take a bath with the leachies
