Midget Leachie

Exactly how big is my leachie supposed to be by now? His birthday is 9-3-03 and he's only 3.5" SVL and 4.5" total. Is Igor a midget? He eats crickets, wax worms, and leachie diet. I've been dealing with cresteds forever, but this is my first leachie and I swear that he's either a freak, or I'm doing something wrong.

Sorry, forgot to add that it's an Isle E.

Island E according to my book get approximately 8 inches or so snout to vent as adults. I have two island leachies both about 17-20 months old and they are about 5.5-6" snout to vent. Maybe he isn't getting the right diet? I would only feed him insects once a week, the rest of the time give him the t-rex leachie superfood.

I'll give it a try...he doesn't seem to like the leachie diet very much. I had him on just that for the longest time (it was recommended by the breeder I got him from). I swear that this leachie has been the weirdest gecko I've ever owned. He's gotten noticeably bigger in the past month, but he's still midget-sized. *sighs* I've read the "leachianus" part of the "Rhacodactylus" book so many times that I'm amazed the pages haven't fallen out! Thanks for the tip!

Are you dusting his insects/crickets etc... with the leopard gecko dust?

I've tried shake-and-baking my crickets with the leachie dust, but he just doesn't seem to like it very much. He's also not too bright about not stepping in his food dish, so I constantly have to clean his toes.

Not the leachie dust, use the leopard gecko dust. It works great on all of my insect eating lizards. Try it.

Re: Midget Leachie

Sarah,

Have you had any luck getting weight on your little guy? I am not sure if you have been following my posts or not, but I have a "problem child" leachie too and wanted to know if you had found the secret to getting them to grow yet .

Thanks,

Genevieve
