Food Dish

It will vary between gargoyle owners I'm sure but I would like to see who puts their food dish for their garg(s) on the floor of their enclosure or if it is suspended (higher up in the enclosure).

*Getting a garg for the first time this tuesday and I wanna see what is more popular*

Wrong forum...please don't be mad :/

I'm sorry I am posting this in a crested gecko forum but everyone on this page is so much faster to respond and I need a quick response because I am getting a gargoyle gecko for the first time in 3 days.

Two questions:

1) I'm using bamboo poles/stakes (used for gardening) in my enclosure and am wondering if they are too smooth for a gargoyle to grip. Should I sand them to make it more rough?

2) Food dish. SHould I keep it on the floor or keep it elevated like I do for my crested?

Sorry if I irritated anyone by posting this in the Crested Gecko forum but like I said I need a quick response and I know many crested owners have more than just cresteds.

Ah sorry, didn't see your post before. They can grip the bamboo just fine, make sure you have a bunch of bamboo that is more horizontal then verticle though (gargs seem to prefer that). The food dish can be elevated or not, depends on what you want to do but neither is really going to effect whether they feed or not.

Re: Food Dish

I usually keep my gargoyles' food dishes on the floor of my tank, but in the cage where I have a ledge, my sub-adults seem to eat off their ledge way more than the container on the cage floor. I'd say either will do, but if you have an extra ledge then try it out. I hope I was helpful and good luck with your new gargoyle. They're my favorite

Re: Food Dish

I have dishes on the floor for all of my babies and juvis, but then again I keep them in tubs and they do just fine with it. My adults are kept in a custom enclosure and I use a magnaturals food ledge in that with cork bark that goes all the way up to it and they have no problem with that either. I think either way you should be fine if they have a way to access it...but if you wanna play is safe it might not hurt to put 2 in, one in each place and go from there. The other things that might greatly help, is see how the breeder keeps it?
