New to the site. Have been raising crested for two years and did my first show last week. Did ok. Got a new little island e leachie for future breeding and was wondering at what age or weight can you sex them ? I want to get another one once I know what I have. It will be a 3 year project I realize to breed them if all goes well. Right now my leachie is in an 12x12 x18 exoterra. uvb 2 during the day. He does stay near the light and a moon bulb on a t-stat 24-7. Today I cut plexaglass to fit the top 2 openings and drilled out large holes to let the light and heat in, but also to keep humidity high.My little leachie is a little piglet. not like a crested. It eats alot for 2 nights and takes a brake on the third. Thats so far only had him a week. I keep the temps around 78 and humidity of 70 to near 100 at night for a time. He seems happy. the tank is compleatly covered with tan craft foam board, so he does not get bothered by anything. Any sexing or sugestions would be great. I am new to leaches and any tips and friendships would be nice, Thanks birddog

Re: Hi
Welcome birddog. I also have a birddog.
![]() You may want to take some time to re-post your leachianus questions in the leachie forum. Most hard core leachie enthusiasts don't read the intro section. Your questions may go unanswered in here. Anyway, welcome to the forums. Hopefully you find it an informative place. Here are some things for you to check out while you are learning about the forum. These first few are quite important and should be read and utilized: *Forum Rules - Simple guidelines for every member to follow. *The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Find the answers to a lot of forum related questions here...navigation, features, etc. *The Search Feature - there is a wealth of knowledge here from experienced people. Search around using this feature and read some of the old posts about your topics in question. Still feel free to start new threads about anything though. *Forum Index - Become familiar with this Index. It has a place for every possible thread that you’d like to find, or forum you’d like to post to. Think of this site as a book, with this Index telling you every place to find information. …and these will prove to be helpful to you as well. *Product Reviews - Gecko Resource Forums - A place for members to talk about reptile related products that are useful. Negative product reviews are also helpful. *Care Sheets - Information on a specific species all in one place. *Tutorials - The tutorials include lots of explanations for proper husbandry, as well as other things related to the site and keeping reptiles. *Group Photo Gallery - A quick link to get to groups created by Repashy members as well as the photos associated with them. Definitely join some groups and keep this feature active. *Reptile Shows & Symposiums - A section for many reptile-related events from across the country as can be found. *Repashy Superfoods - This is the place to go to order any of the Repashy Superfoods products directly from Allen Repashy. Re: Hi
Hey Tom, good to have you around here. I was vending at that show, we may have seen each other! Please PM me and we can exchange emails/phone numbers and we can talk sometime, I'm in Plaistow and keep R. Aurics and Leachianus, among other things.
If you'll get yourself a jeweler's loupe, (I have a 30x) you should be able to see preanal pores very early on. My male was sexed at less than two weeks. The problem is if it's your first leachie and a female, you'll be pulling your hair out looking for what's not there. ![]() Anyway, good to have you and don't hesitate to hit me up and we can chat. Kevin

Re: Hi
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the info. Yes I was at the Manchester show. Way on the far end from the door. I am looking forward to exchanging info and to have another gecko owner to chat with. I will PM you with my email and phone. I lived in Windham up until 3 years ago. Now I live up in Andover, NH. On my next food order I will get the loupe and a scale. Was unable to find anything good in Concord. Never got around to buying them for my crested geckos, but really should have. Pangea has a scale that can do 1/10 gram. Anyway I will keep in contact.
