Repashy Forum Rules (rewritten/updated)

The previous rules were becoming quite outdated and needed some modification.

The following set of rules has been set to hopefully keep everyone informed of what is expected of the members of these forums. Basically, if you use some common sense and you are a civil person with good morals and ethics, you won't have any problem here. We just hope to keep everyone on the same page and make this the best forum site it can be. We want the forums to stay friendly and promote good healthy discussions.

Please abide by the rules and keep this a friendly and informative site so that everyone can enjoy the benefits that these forums have to offer.

1. Use proper English

This forum is used by people from all over the world, and many of the members don't speak English as their primary language. Typing shorthand or using "texting" type language ("r" for are, or "u" for you) can confuse people and make your posts difficult to read. Nobody wants to take the time to translate a message written for a chatroom or cellphone text message, so please be conscious of using proper English and grammar.

You have all the time you need to type out a post and review it before clicking Reply

2. NO POSTING IN CAPS!

Typing in all capital letters comes across as yelling or speaking loudly. It is considered to be a rude and immature form of writing.

3. No Redirecting Traffic:

Promoting your business or anyone else’s on the forums is prohibited except for in the classifieds section. Anything that draws a person away from the Repashy Forums via links or hotlinked photos is not allowed.

If the link has something to do with the topic and discussion at hand, then that is okay and it can be posted. Anything that could lead to personal gain is not. It will be decided by the moderation group whether a post or link should be removed if this should occur.

4. Personal signature lines have been disabled:

From time to time these forums are hit by spammers and we've found them using signature lines. This feature has been recently disabled for any new incoming members, but you will still see that signatures are still present for members that were registered before that feature was turned off.

IF this feature is safe to be turned back on, members will only be allowed a certain length signature with no photos.

For now, creating your own signature at the end of your posts will be allowed. We'd suggest putting your name and then linking to your own website. Anything excessive will be discussed with that specific member.

5. Use the vBClassified tab for making advertisements:

The vBClassifieds option was put in place to keep all the ads organized. Please use this feature to place Wanted, For Sale, For Trade, or any other type of ad.

Keep this reptile related! No sales of other pets and objects please! (unless they become part of a trade)

Ads should be kept out of the main forums, and anything that is deemed an advertisement or sales pitch will be removed if it is found anywhere other than the Classified section.

6. Only one account per person:

Each registered user on the forums is only allowed one account and one screen name. The Administrators and Moderators are able to view all incoming new users as well as match up IP addresses. Anyone creating multiple “alter-egos” or aliases are subject to being banned. Entire IP addresses can be banned as well.

No member under the age of 13 is allowed. If we find out that you are underage, your account will be disabled. We hope to attract a mature audience, and curb childish behavior if at all possible.

If at any time you want to change your screen name, you may contact a moderator to have it changed.
If you forget your username or password, it can be retrieved through the sign in page.

7. No offensive or foul language:

This site is visible to EVERYONE, so keep your posts as clean as possible. This isn’t an “R” rated site, so make sure what you say is PG-13. Review your posts carefully before clicking the Reply button.

8. Treat everyone as you would like to be treated

Racial, sexual, religious, and other offensive posts are absolutely intolerable. We are all adults and we should be able to be open-minded toward everyone and their beliefs. If you aren’t able to handle the diversity of people on these forums, then this isn’t the place for you.

9. Threats of any kind are not tolerated.

Name calling and trash talking will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Don't pick fights here or continuously start arguments. Your posts may be removed and you may be banned if the behavior continues. This includes any personal attacks on anyone or their businesses.

10. This is NOT the BOI (board of inquiry)

Business transctions between buyers and sellers should not be discussed on these forums. This isn't the place to talk about a transaction and how it went good or bad with a certain buyer/seller. If you would like to talk about these topics with other members, we ask that you use Private Messages

11. Don’t abuse this site

This is a privately owned website that is provided to us for FREE. The privileges you get here are unlike most other sites, so please respect this community and its features. Anyone can come here and learn and talk with other keepers...making it an invaluable resource for all things reptile related.

The Administrators and Moderators of the site are volunteering their time to help keep this a civil and helpful place for everyone to enjoy. They are not the "forum police" and it shouldn't be part of their job to get harassed or criticized for a decision they make for the good of everyone. Please heed their direction if you are privately messaged or are asked to do something.

There is no policy set that the moderators have to give warnings about violations. If something gets out of hand, they will act accordingly to help keep things under control. If that results in temporarily or permanently banning a person, then that is the decision that they will make.

The moderating staff here is far from being "power hungry" at all...we just want things to stay friendly and promote good healthy discussions. We are all open-minded people that are willing to listen and help out with anything. For that reason, feel free to contact us with any questions, problems, or anything else that may need an answer, and we'll happily help you out.

Enjoy the forums!
