Re: Calcium Plus photo contest VOTE HERE!

Since you of course want the label to make people want to buy this stuff I would have gone with a crested gecko. Repashy mainly stands for rhacodactylus and since the ciliatus is the most readily kept a lot of people will be appealed by a label like that. (of course I love all the uroplatus pics but when looking at it from a commercial perspective that's my opinion). So I chose a chahoua because that's also a rhac

I would go for a black background since it seems to fit the repashy superfoods logo much better and then I would make a slight change to the orange letters with white around it. I wouldn't let the white fade out like that (don't really know how to explain it properly and hope I am making myself clear) but I would make just a thin 'sharp' white line around the orange letter. This looks a lot less 'messy' and cleaner you don't want the letters to be this eyecatching I think.

The Calcium Plus ICB is a product that can be used for any herp that requires calcium dusting. There was a photo contest just for the crested gecko diet in January, and that was all cresteds. This contest was intended to see something different. I agree that a chahoua photos would be good candidates, but it shouldn't be limited to just Rhacodactylus because it is a Repashy product. A lot of Uroplatus and Phelsuma keepers will stand by this product just a much as any Rhac keeper.

This is exactly what we're trying to avoid. Obviously for Rhacodactylus keepers, 'Repashy' is synonymous with the genus, but this is exactly what we're trying to avoid with the non CGD products. As Kyle pointed out, there are a lot of Phelsuma, Uroplatus, Uromastyx, Dart frog keepers, and keepers of many other species already using the other products ( Calcium Plus, SuperPig, other calcium and vitamin products etc.)

I too like the black a lot, but it does use a lot more ink when printing the labels, so we'll probably try to do about half of them in black.... it will just depend on what photos get the most votes. I understand what you're saying about the outline on the calcium plus etc. The main reason I did the faded background lettering is because it adds a lot more depth to the label, otherwise it looks quite flat. I'll play around with it a bit more, and maybe eventually put up a few polls to see what people like best.
Thanks for the thoughts

Re: Calcium Plus photo contest VOTE HERE!

I didn't want to come off too negative about the labels and hope I didn't since I really like how they look but I know a lot about the commercial business and therefore those were my thoughts which I still think the same of.
But I can also definetely see how you try to maybe reach more people that keep different species by using an entirely different species on this label since most people keeping rhacs know and trust repashy products..
I understand about the ink thing when using a black background and making only the logopart black for example would be a good middle road.
Maybe you can use the bevel and emboss option to make the letters come up a bit? Maybe you hate using that but just trying to think along
Am curious to see which one is going to win and how it's going to look eventually

I appreciate the input, and didn't take the suggestions negatively. I'm far from a graphic designer, so I'm always up for trying new things I just sort of know my way around photoshop, but am always trying to learn

I voted for the nephurus as more people are familiar with them and the gecko does not take away from the logo and product name too much.
