Just got my first Chewie! Pics

My first Chewie!

Let me know what you think. Also, what kind of adult coloring can I expect?

Sorry for the out of focus shots. The little guy wouldn't sit still. At only 10g my Chewie is currently housed in a large KK. At what weight can I move it into the 18x18x24 exo I have reserved for it?

Let me know what you think.

He/she looks really good good luck with it you will love watching them grow and eat.
Adult coloring can vary as it will grow. Based on the paternand coloring now i would think browns and reds. Looks like their will be some green on the back.

As Chris said, adult coloration is about impossible to tell at that age, especially if you don't know what the parents look like.

I'd say you can move it into the exo terra whenever you'd like. In my experience, most geckos ( as well as many reptiles) grow better in larger enclosures. So long as you can find the little guy in there without much problem ( to make sure it's doing well), then go for it.

Looks nice and healthy, you'll love having it, they're really cool

Re: Just got my first Chewie! Pics

Congratulations on your first chewie! They are such fun geckos and I'm sure you will love it.

I'd suggest the same thing that Andrew did as far as moving it to a larger enclosure. It would be fine in either. It wouldn't hurt to keep it "quarantined" for a few weeks to make sure it is eating and drinking though.

Its already eaten 3 crix and some CGD. I don't keep water for my cresties as I mist around 2 times a day. Do chewies require water?

I used to not keep water bowls in rhacodactylus cages either.... but a few years ago I started having problems with hatchlings getting dehydrated in the winter. Now we're very sure to keep water bowls in the cages with every animal we have, even if it gets sprayed. While 90% of them drink mainly from being misted, a few still prefer the water bowl. I'd definitely recommend putting water bowls in the cages

Re: Just got my first Chewie! Pics

I agree with Andrew about the water bowl thing.

Our sub-adult female will sit at her water bowl and wait for me to fill it. Soon as it's full, she starts drinking. (with so many bowls, sometimes ours are empty for a day or so)

I also agree. I have seen both of my Chahoua drinking from their water bowls.

Good luck...keep us updated with pics

Very nice chahoua, i like the white on the shoulders and tail base. If you don't mind me asking who did you get it from?
