Another case ?

Hello

Yesterday, my virgin female Nuu Ana has laid 2 eggs. She newer was with a male.

So i read some post talking about pathogenesis and i saw that is "common". But that hatching babies are very rare.

I'd like know if eggs turn bad quickly , if babies develop but never hatch ... what happen ?

2 eggs look like very good.

Re: Another case ?

It's not very common...but it does happen. We just hatched one out a couple of weeks ago, and it's only maybe the 8th or 9th case anyone really knows of.

Others have talked about getting fertile eggs from their non-mated females, but the eggs go bad and die. For whatever reason, they might just be predisposed to being not as healthy or strong animals, so that's why not many people can hatch them out. Who really knows?

I'd like some comment on people who had eggs from virgin female alone do know how they turn.

And did you know if their is case of 2 eggs which hatch ? or their is just one each time ?

I only know of 1 each time...but maybe Tom has had both eggs from a clutch hatch...not sure. (I still need to converse with him further about all of this )

The one we hatched came from a clutch of 2 eggs, but the 1st went bad right away. We could tell it was infertile. We have another one that looks good from a clutch of 2...but again, the second one was bad right away.

Re: Another case ?

Yeah, you'll know if they are bad within a week or two. Mine would turn yellow and start molding within just a couple of days.

Re: Another case ?

Here is what I have learned. Usually 1 of the two eggs has an embryo. About once a season with two females laying, I get 1 clutch with two embryos and 1 clutch with none. With this being said, I have averaged one hatched leachie per season, with two females laying 5-6 clutches each.
Of 4 the four that hatched hatched, one was deformed and passed, one never grew over the course of a year and passed, and the other two are doing well. The first is full grown and the second is growing slow. I believe that there may be growth issues involved with partho leachies. I hope this helps.
Mine are Nuu Anas and as far as I know, this is the type that parthenogenesis is occurring in. Some have had it occur in mixed types, however mixed could mean that someone lost the data and had to sell it as mixed or unknown.

Re: Another case ?

The eggs, from my experience, look good for at least 1 week. Some look good for the entire incubation period unless you candle them. Sorry it didn't work out for you.
