New to forums. Meet Ducati!

HellO! My name is lauren. I'm new to the reptile world! I started working as a veterinary assistant and turns out that the hospital I work at sees exotics. I never thought I would enjoy working with exotics, but I do!

I fell in love with the Cresties that would come in to work. After about 4 months, I finally convinced my Fiance to let me have one. The very first day we moved into our new house, I bought my first crestie. He even has his own room, literally, right now. We have a 3 bedroom house and his tank is the only thing in one of the spare bedrooms. We call it the gecko room lol.

Anyway. He was born 5/18/11, so just over a year old. My fiance and I named him Ducati. I weighed him a week after I got him and he was just 6 grams (which I thought was pretty light for a 1 year old). Anyway, he eats a little every night. He was eating every other night for about a month but now he seems to eat every night. I assume its because its the summer and the temp is getting higher. My house stays at 82 degrees (I'm in Arizona, HOT!) So as a solution, I put ice packs on his tank during all parts of the day. his tank stays below 78 degrees.
He is in a larger exo-terra tank, I forget the dimensions of it. Made sure it was more tall than wide.
Here are some pics of him!

Hey, welcome! And, yeah, reptiles are pretty cool. I use to be into tarantulas and big mammals, but ever since I got really up close with the reptiles, I'm hooked. I too keep my crestie in a room with the AC running, so the temperature is aroun 76-80 degree at all time. By the way, your crestie looks very nice.

More Pictures of Ducati today.

His tank:

Looks like he was partially fired up in this pic. More so on his back end. cream was more intense and he turned a dark chocolate.

Welcome to the forums, Lauren. I also work at a vet clinic, but we don't see exotics. Your gecko is very cute, congrats on catching the gecko addiction.

Re: New to forums. Meet Ducati!

Thanks spyral! Yeah he's doing really well! I keep ice packs on his tank constantly to keep the temperature below 80. He is still really mellow!

Thank goodness you have a mellow one. Mine is jumping around all the time when I pick him up. I think it's because he's still young.
