Likeliness to Go Red? Opinions Please?

Custard has me a little confused, as she is the first offspring I've ever hatched that has the potential to go red. Her momma is Chili, a SMOKIN' red bicolor lady, and her dad is a dark cocoa extremely spotty pinner guy.

A few weeks ago, she looked like this:

But as of the past week or so, she's absolutely REFUSED to fire up any more than this-

Should I have chalked her red up as 'hatchling' red? Is it likely she'll turn cocoa like dad, or am I looking at a baby red in the making?

I think she has really decent potential to go red. A couple reasons I'm not that into reds is a) you can't really pick them out as hatchlings, and b) they NEVER fire up!

But with Chili as da mom, you should be in good shape.

Lol she's looking chunky again! I'm pretty sure she's gonna be popping out her 4th set of eggs soon! Her 2nd pair are looking about ready to explode, so fingers crossed!

Hey Megan do you have any updates on this hatchling? I have my first babies from a fire red female and both have that sedona red coloration which is very different from my other hatchlings and was interested in how this one turned out.

Maybe she's a little cold... What is the temperature of the cage?

I generally let them pig out and let them eat as much as they want when it's feeding time, especially the ones that are still growing. It's get the colors more intense, and they have more energy.

Re: Likeliness to Go Red? Opinions Please?

This little baby has gone to a new home now, but I do have a few pics from before I sold her She was NOT red, it was just baby red, unfortunately. I guess dad's genetics were too strong, 'cause NONE of my babies from that pairing have remained red!

I am planning to pair mom with a yellow pin next year

Here is baby Custard from a month or so ago-
