Evidence of GT type C in America or Europe

Hello everyone, I am really curious about this type of Grand Terre leachianus. I always hear of other types of GT, such as dark morph and yate, but never of this wonderful form. It is supposed to be the largest of the GT, a real giant leachianus then... Do any of you own a specimen, or at least know if someone is working on the project of developing this type, to make it less rare?

Re: Evidence of GT type C in America or Europe

I have been into gt's for the last 6 years and have been checking as good as all adds and all big reptile shows over here in europe and have never seen any animal being sold as a type C. I have some gt's that are big and blotched an are certainly pure gt's(this morph is dark green and has white blotches on it's side and almost none on it's back) but the people who are breeding this morph only know their animals were collected by henkel but
no exact location of the original animals is known. You can check previous posts for pic's.Several breeders in germany are selling them as normal gt's. These and dark morphs (mnt koghis) seem to be the only gt morphs available in europe don't know anyone over here workin with yate's for instance

This is rumor only, because I have the info second or third hand, but I recall reading it in a thread here a long time ago.

I heard that Frank Fast brought some Type C back with him, but the price is high and the wait list for any offspring he DOES release is years long. Anything other than that would be completely wild speculation on my part.

Edit: I type corrected. Genevieve and Mr. de Vosjoli have the right info.

Phil Tremper has them up on his site. The wait list was three years last time I checked (a couple months ago).

Re: Evidence of GT type C in America or Europe

I've been trying to make sense of the various GT types.
Type A are characterized by large uniform scales along the sides of the snout. They have reduced or absent light blotches. There are two forms: A light morph from the Yate and a dark morph of which some specimens originated from the Poindimie area. I previously thought Mt Koghis animals were type A but I now consider that they are a type C. All animals collected by Frank Fast were type A. To my knowledge all Yate GT in captivity in the U.S. were collected by Frank.

Type C has heterogenous snout scales with smaller scales just above the labials and larger scales as you near the upper portion of the snout. Type C are variable but many show well defined light blotches along the sides of the body. Mt Koghis dark morphs have heterogenous snout scales so for now I include them as type C. All type C do not get as large as the specimens owned by Philip Tremper.

It will be necessary to examine GTs from many different areas to accurately determine morphotypes, some of which could possibly qualify as subsepcies.

Thanks to genevieve and Philippe for helping me to find out who has and reproduce type C GT. I would like, one day, to purchase a couple, the problem is that Phil Tremper never replies to the emails, so I'm not able even to know how long is the waiting list...

Lisa, there are certainly people in europe breeding this morp only they will be selling them as normal GT's. Phil trempers animals are according to the book european imports so there are other people breeding them here the only problem is that most breeders in germany don't sell their animals as being this or that morph but as leachianus leachianus, so you should ask breeders for pic's off their adult animals and if they are big and blotched it probably are the animals that in the book are referd to as type c animals, i think that in germany they are common.
