New Leachie Enclosure
I moved Fatty a Nuu Ana gecko into my largest exo terra. He gave me a strong head butt which almost hurt my hand when trying to pick him up. I always wanted him to be a natural acting gecko but never wanted him to react like this to me. Oh well, I guess I will keep him untill I figure out what to do with him. I presume he is 3-4 years old and would be ready to breed next year or so.
![]() Yes I am looking to change it alot and I need some long pieces of cork bark. I don't know where to get them and I will need about 4-8 big pieces since I have another leachie and will need mates for both if I want to try keeping them pure.

Re: New Leachie Enclosure
looks okay, but as you say your selvf, a must in a leachie setup is cork-tubes, small and "crowded" and nice leachie. how big is it?

Re: New Leachie Enclosure
I am having a hard time figuring out why every keeps saying "small and crowded". Are you saying my enclosure is small still? I don't get it. Or are you saying I need to make it more crowded? Where is a good place to get cork bark at? I guess hes about 8 inches but alot bigger than a 8 inch crested since theyre all body.

Re: New Leachie Enclosure
Yea, Thanks I found a few places now all I need is the money to get them. I just kept the stuff in there that I had for my cresty but I'll be upgrading it in the next month hopefully. I have a couple fake cork curls from the store but I'll just get the realistic ones.

Re: New Leachie Enclosure
The size is just fine! Just fill the tank with more cork. I buy my cork in bulk on ebay actually

Re: New Leachie Enclosure
i don't think having a crowded cage is necessary, but i don't see how it would harm anything.i thought it was in the rach bible that i saw that all was needed was a cork tube, water dish, food dish, and a means of keeping proper humidity.wherever i saw the picture at,it was a fairly spacious enclosure.
i have three leachies and they seem to do fine in the enclosure i've set up with a minumum of cage furnishings.my two adult nuu anna crosses are kept in their own 40 gallon tank turned on end.they have a large cork tube that was purchased from black jungle,a large water dish,a food dish, and two large, fake pothos plants suction-cupped to one side of the glass, and nothing more.both leachies were about half the age you are guessing yours is when these cages became their permanent home.my type "b" leachy is in a ten gallon set-up the same way.i've never had a problem with keeping them in these enclosures, and the longest time is over 2 years. i think all your enclosure needs is a cork bark tube, and your good. |

Re: New Leachie Enclosure
Having a crowded cage makes them feel more secure which causes them to eat and adapt better, which is obviously a good thing. I've done it both ways and crowded the cage is the best way to do it. The Rhac bible is telling you the minimum that is required to keep them. The more places they can hide the better they will do.
