Genevieve,
The gecko that is offered to you is probably an Island E. ..... There are very few if ANY actual Pine island leachies around. This has just become the generic term for all leachianus henkeli. The nicest and most common you will find is the IslandE/Bayonase type that are indistinguishable from each other. Nu Ana and Nu Ami are obvioulsy different and bring a higher price.... On the **** issue..... I posted this several places already..... I have set up a filter to block out profanity, and there is no word more dirty than ****food ! LOL.... I set it up so that the word b a b y is blocked, and not the whole ****food word so people could figure out what was being said. This also blocks it out when you are talking about a newborn gecko..... **** is a poor term for a young gecko anyway, so I suggest you use the words....hatchling, neonate, or juvenile .. much more professional than the word ****! Allen

Allen,
Thank you for the info. I was reading on the relative dearth of actual Pine Isles being offered in the Rhac book earlier. Just wasn't sure if anything had changed since it was published. Didn't realize that it was now part of the vernacular as well. Sorry I missed the other posts on the b a b y blocking. Very clever! ****food is certainly the dirtiest word I know . I am not certain if it is a hatchling or a neonate (I am not really clear on the exact diving line between the two stages either, even having just consulted THE BOOK). What exactly would you use as the age cutoffs for the various stages for the different Rhac species (esp. Leachies and ciliatus). Genevieve

good luck with the new leachie. on housing recommendations, i would say, lots of hides, use sturdy plants that wont break/be trampled under an adult leachies weight.a nice big cage, i wouldnt do a full screen cage tho because its alot harder to keep up the humidity. i find that my leachies do well with uvb and a basking, i have some pictures and explanation of my leachie set ups in the housing section, you should check it out.
