i have a friend who has one lonely *or spoiled you could say* crestie in a 29 gallon. it's completely decked out and looks killer, with a bioactivated substrate and all. due to some early in life complications (no CGD!!) the gecko developed MBD and has had gecko-parkinson's disease ever since. (shakes horribly when he does anything...)
anywho! the story started yesterday around 5. i got a call from my friend saying her gecko was acting funny. he kept burying his head in the substrate and just laying there. she would un-bury him and he would become active and walk around and jump and whatnot, and was otherwise acting normal. i advised just to watch him, make sure he was hydrated, and make sure he's eating right *since earlier in life he has grown quite fond of his nutrient rich CGD.* 2 hours passed and i was on my way to the petstore for some cat litter when i got another phone call from my friend.... GOSHAVEN LAID EGGS! so, moral of the story....a full grown 'male' may not always be so! what i assumed to be a bulge *and what she had always been sure was a bulge* was just a pudgy crestie, and goshaven is now officially a girl. you hear this the other way so often, that i thought this was particularly funny! no one ever bothered to check REALLY closely *pore shot, loupe* because he was housed alone, and was never going to be bred. well, he is now a she! ![]() hope you enjoyed the backwards dropping a sack story

That is very interesting though. The gecko isn't obese or anything is it? Does it really have that big of a bulge that it looked male?

Re: funny story...
not obese at all. other than the shaking very healthy, eating on a MWF regimen and getting misted heavily every day. so definitely a girl now though
