Pine Isle Chahoua: Female Holdback Kunie
This thread shows the progression of coloration for Kunie, a Pine Island chewie I hatched on Sept 6, 2008.
I kept her hoping to add a female to my chewie gang or to use as a bloodline trade. I ended up keeping her because I was intrigued to see what her color & pattern would do. Well, so far it is not what I expected! Hatch day, Sept 6, 2008 ![]() ![]() July 4, 2009 (with tail curled). I really expected her to be pale or pastel like her mom. ![]() July 4, 2009 (top) ![]() Aug 29, 2009. She started to go really dark with some intense red patches. ![]() ![]() Oct 27, 2009. The red quieted down to pink but overall she remained quite dark. I saw the first signs of green starting to appear in patches. ![]() ![]() Oct 28, 2009 (one day later). I thought this was going to be the "aha" moment where her color mellowed and she turned pastel green. ![]() ![]() Dec 1, 2009. Her dark colors returned and have remained ever since. She has some green/olive areas but nothing like I expected. Her "white shoulders" are typically olive or dark gray. She weighs about 65 grams in this picture and appears to be fully grown/mature. ![]() ![]() Kind of odd coloration for a chewie (though Derek/SBR has one that seems to be somewhat similar). We'll see if this is her adult colors or if she still has changes in store! She's kept on brown bark in a fairly dark enclosure--maybe I need to put her on white paper towels overnight to see if she changes color... Still not sure what to do with her! --John

Keep her man! If you end up trading her or selling her you better get a good price. She is way too gorgeous to not get a fair deal. I know I'd hang onto her and pair her up.

Re: Pine Isle Chahoua: Female Holdback Kunie
John, she's looking fantastic. The closest to purple I've seen on a chahoua yet, very nice
I'll have to get a photo of one of my males fired down, they could color 'Easter' eggs together,
