Chahoua worms?
Hello Everyone,
I’ve got a few R. chahoua and while I was on holiday over the weekend, the person who was looking after them fed them some garden snails and now I have some worries… I know these can have parasites so I’ll probably need to worm them right? Three of my females were gravid, will the parasites or treatment harm the eggs they produce? How soon will I be able to tell from faecal samples that they have worms? Is there any over the counter dewormers I can use? What are the dosages? Any help greatly appreciated. Remy |

Re: Chahoua worms?
You can use Allens nematobe fix for worms safely even with gravid females and also use e-fix for parasites. However, worms are usually quite noticeable in feces so if you haven't seen any, no one is losing weight, over or under eating all the sudden, or acting lethargic I would hold off though getting it is always nice just to have. I keep it for those just incase times and to treat any new aquisitions.

Re: Chahoua worms?
Were these snails directly from outside, and that is why you are worried?
I suppose it is possible for them to acquire some type of parasite, but I don't think the chances are very likely. I would guess that they would be nematodes of some type, or something that could be cleared up just by using the Repashy Nematode Fix. Do you have access to this product at all? A fecal test may not show any worms for quite a long time. The parasites would have to multiply inside your geckos and a vet would really have to get lucky to find any traces of them in the gecko's stool...especially after only a short while. I'd suggest trying the Entamoeba Fix if you can get it, or ask your vet about internal parasites and mention the drug Metronidazole. They may be able to administer some treatment or preventative.
