yes, it has been done, a friend of mine did it. male ciliatus to female auriculatus. yes there were hatchlings, they looked more like gargoyles then anything. the females had never been paired with a male auriculatus, the ciliatus was definitely the father. i do not know weather or not the offspring made it very long, or where they are now. i am not fond of hybrids or the crossing of locals as genevieve said. if none of them survived, all the better in my mind, because i dont think people need that re-introduced back into brreding populations. i havent talked to him in a long time, and ill ask him what happened with them. he eventually got a male auriculatus and now breeds gargoyles to gargoyles.

Does anyone know if any rhac cross-species hybrids are able to breed. Are these hybrids sterile, fertile, or does anyone know. I myself don't care too much for hybrids because if they aren't sterile it seems a bit risky keeping them around other "pure bred" rhacs. I just worry about hybrids getting out into circulation and not being labled hybrid and "polluting" the various rhac gene pools.

Hey Silly-atus and Slizards you guys are hilarious! But really I don't think there is much interest in the two between them. I had my gargoyle surrounded by crested and the other cresteds where more interested in each other than in the gargoyle. And the gargoyle always just looked like she was in her own little world...though I do admit my run away gecky liked to stare at garggle and garggle would stare back so maybe there was a love match there...then again Gecky wouldn't have ran away right?
Seriously though, no need to worry about any cross breeding from me. |

I've heard a few things about the hybrids not being and being fertile. I know for a fact that some of them are as a friend of mine has breed hybrid to hybrid and hybrid to normal. However, this dosn't mean that all hybrids are sterile. I usually keep out of these conversations as I get alot of crap thrown my way but had to put that bit of info. I love the crested/chahoua crosses, the colors that you get and the colors that they change to are just astonishing.
