Re: Geckos Sleeping?

Hi,

Their eyes are open, but droop the crests above their eyes down so they partially cover their eyes. At least I think they are asleep, hehehe.

Re: Geckos Sleeping?

yeah they dont have any eye lids, so they sleep with their eyes open.

they also lick their eyes to maintain them moist due to the fact that they dont have eye lids.

this can also be seen in various types of geckos and reptiles.

Re: Geckos Sleeping?

It depends on the gecko genera/specie. Cresteds have fixed eyelids so they sleep with their eyes open. Others such as Banded Geckos, Leopard Geckos, African Fattails have moveable eyelids and sleep with their eyes closed.

Genus Diplodactylinae, Gekkoninae, and Teratoscincinae are fixed eyelid.
Genus Aleuroscalabotinae and Eublepharinae are moveable eyelid.

Hope this helps.

Re: Geckos Sleeping?

Thanks a lot for all the help! I was just getting worried at one point because he wasn't moving, so I touched him and then he took off... I was just scared, but thanks for clearing things up!
