Golden geckos and CGD?

Hey everyone, I have a friend who has a pair of (I think) golden gecko that he'd like to get rid of. I'm not exactly sure that they are golden geckos, he says they're about 3-5 inches, are not nice, and have purple-ish sides with yellow backs.

I was wondering if anyone has ever kept gold geckos on a diet of CGD? I'd read that they eat baby food on some care sheets, but with insects. I was thinking of feeding just CGD, because I have no money to pay for insects every week. Has anyone tried this? Is it ok for the geckos?

If it's not, I'll direct him to either a mom and pap pet store that will take them back or my herp Association to surrender them.

Thank you guys!

If their diet is that close to a cresteds I don't see why you can't try. Baby food and insects is basically saying fruit and protein right? They sound pretty cool looking it would be nice if you got them. I wish I knew the right answer but in my opinion they could easily be added to the list of geckos who are not rhacs and still eat the diet.

I would not go on descriptions, I'd have the guy look up Gekko ulikovski to make sure that is what it is first. Here's good pic:

I have found all the Gekko genus geckos I work with, G. gekko and G. vitattus, to be big fans of MRP. I'm sure G. ulikovski would too!

Yeah, I'm going to go see them and get pictures before I commit to them. Also have to talk my mother into a couple more geckos for a couple more months. I'm not even really sure if I want them, sure I'm a gecko fan, but golden geckos were never really on my "want" list. I'll have to see. It's also a pair, and I don't want them breeding, 'course he said they haven't been laying recently, but have in the past. (And he needed a razor blade to get the eggs off the cage, another trait that leads me to think it's that species.) We shall see.

we've been keeping G. vittatus, and G. gecko for a few years now, and both take the CGD as Julie said. I must say though, I feel the white lines take it quite a lot better than the tokays. We fed a hatchling white stripe up to around 15 grams exclusively on the CGD and it was very healthy looking.

I would agree. I have some G. gekko that clean their cups very well, some just pick at it.
