1. No Advertising/Promotion of any kind.
This forum is here for the sole purpose of discussing gecko husbandry and related issues, not to promote other businesses.

Veiled advertising will not be tolerated. For example, don't try posting a picture of an animal and say that you're going to miss him and that you don't know how much to ask for him. Any thread or post that draws attention to animals that you have for sale is considered advertising. Don't test us on this one....We're smarter than we look!

All posts that state or imply "Look at/check out my/this website" will be removed. We do allow our users to post the URLs of websites, as long as it is part of a contribution to the overall discussion, but not simply as a method of promotion/endorsement of those websites, either on their own behalf or on behalf of someone else. In addition, if a user has a pattern of responding to messages with directions to a particular website or domain that begins to look like an attempt to circumvent this rule, the overall pattern will be taken into consideration when determining if it is advertising/promotion or not.

We do allow users to include the URL to their website in their signatures, but if a pattern of promoting a particular website becomes apparent, you may be asked to remove the URL from your signature. Please use common sense here!

Keep in mind that this is a free service provided by a business, so please have a little business-minded courtesy when posting here.

10/20/2005 - We have added a member classifieds section to this website. If you would like to post a for sale/trade or want ad, that is the place to do it. Any kind of advertising anywhere else WILL NOT be tolerated.

2. DO NOT register more than one account - Keep it real, people!
One username per person, period. Imaginary friends and alteregos do not count as another person and as such, they are not allowed to post on the forums. If you wish to carry on a conversation with yourself, please do it somewhere else, preferably in private.

Posting under another individual's username and/or email address, or impersonating another member with a misleading username, signature, or statement, is a violation.

Should you get banned and decide to register a new username, we can and will ban your IP address without further warning. This will ensure that you can't even look at the forums, let alone re-register.

3. Keep it Clean - Use good judgement here!

a. Threats of physical violence - Don't even try to dance around this one. If your post can reasonably be assumed to be a threat of physical violence, you're gone for good...and probably without warning, period.

b. No name calling - Do it and you, the post and/or thread may be removed without warning.

c. No R rated language - We're definitely no prudes, but this forum is visible to everyone, so if it's not allowed in a PG-13 movie, don't type it.

d. No human porn - If you post nude or sexually explicit pictures, they better of be geckos.

e. No personal attacks - Do not use the forums to trash talk businesses or individuals. Discussion and even debate is encouraged, but please concentrate on the topic at hand and not the people therein. If you digress to trash talking a person or business (member or not), your posts will be removed and you may be banned without warning.

f. Racial, sexual, personal, or religious slurs will not be tolerated at all. No warnings on this one...plan on finding a new forum to pollute if you break this rule.

4. No members under the age of 13.
If you're under 13, you are not allowed to register and post. However, we welcome you to ask a parent or guardian to sign up, so that you can still look at the forums and post questions under their supervision. If we find out that you are under 13, your account may (and probably will) be terminated without warning.

5. Be a big kid - Don't test the waters.
When you tell a child not to do something, the first thing they do is try to establish that fine line of how much they can and cannot get away with. With that in mind, please remember rule #4. This site requires members to be at least 13 years of age and that is in part, because we don't want to deal with childish behavior. Should you constantly push our buttons or try to find loopholes in the rules, you will most likely find yourself being banned without warning.

6. This is a privately owned website, not a democracy.
All of the services we provide on this site, we provide as a free service, and grant you the privilege to use them. If you violate that privilege, either knowingly or unknowingly, we may (or may not) contact you and ask you to stop. If you persist or become abusive, belligerent, or argumentative with a mod/admin, we reserve the right, at our discretion, to refuse service, limit or block your access to our website and/or contact your Internet service provider.

Moderators/Administrators are doing their jobs on a voluntary basis and being abused is not part of that job. We have no time to deal with abusive members. If you receive a warning about a post, or find your posts missing, please think twice before you react.

While occasionally a mod/admin may inform a member about a violation, or post a general warning to a forum, we have no policy guaranteeing that anyone will be warned about a violation, nor any specific number or type of violations that may result in termination of their user account.

7. NO POSTING IN ALL CAPS!

Typing in all caps is considered yelling, rude, immature, and will not be tolerated.

8. Use proper English.

This is not an instant message format or chatroom. no shorthand is allowed such as "u" for you. "k" for ok, that kind of stuff. Please make an effort to us proper grammar and English. People who speak english as a second language will of course not be criticized, and in fact, we encourage you to participate as much as possible. The point is that a lot of people don't have the time or patience to translate your shorthand, and many people just can't understand it. You have all the time you need to type out your post, so please be considerate.

9. No list of rules is ever complete.
Please remember, this is a free service that we are providing as a courtesy. As such, we do not owe this service to anyone and we reserve the right to add/modify rules and to refuse service to anyone at any time, for any reason we choose.
