Question Entamoeba fix

Hello,

I am new to the whole forum thing so please excuse my lack of knowledge
I want to treat my entire colony of crested geckos.
My question is...Is it safe to treat my babies, juvies and sub-adults?
Has it been tested on Madagascar Giant Day Geckos?

Thanks!
Jennifer

Re: Entamoeba fix

Jennifer, I have never treated hatchlings, it would probably be too much until they are pretty good sized subadults. I have not heard of Giant Days being diagnosed with Entamoeba, they can get pinworms and and I did treat one P. grandis that was a poor doer with funny poop with the Nematode fix and he was fine. Now he seems to prefer MRP, go figure!

Thanks for the info. I feed all my P. grandis MRP with mealworms or dusted crickets once a week. I have read that they are nectar feeders and mine have done very well on it.

Do you grind in the insect feeders? Just wanted to check! I do a good amount of MRP feeding and also do crickets supplemented with Calcium Plus (on other days), which has turned out to be the best supplement for Phelsuma. Most will jump at a cricket, this one I mention who was ill now seems to prefer MRP only. That is very Phelsuma atypical indeed!

No, I feed them live. I put the mealworms in a shallow dish so they can't crawl out. I only feed a couple of crickets at a time as they will eat the feces if let in the cage too long. Sounds like your "sick" fella may feel the need for the extra nutrients he getting from the MRP. Funny how animals seem to know what they need. I also place a small amount of Repcal with D3 in a baby food cap in their enclosures, especially with my females, that way they can eat the desired amount they need for good egg production. All this seems to working as I am doing very well this them.

With Calcium Plus I have thrown away all my calcium dishes. No need! I have better production from all my geckos, and the 36 odd species of Phelsuma I have all had markedly better egg production. I switched from RepCal with D3 mixed 2:1 together - it has been about four years now. The pigment enhancers are also noticeably contributing to their vibrant color as when folks get Phelsuma from me, after three weeks their color noticeably fades if they use other supplement products. There's really nothing that has come close. I have been working with Phelsuma since 1993 and have used absolutely everything! I usually have 70-100 Phelsuma at any given time, so everything is well tested.

Great advice, thanks! I'll definitely check out your website, I'd love to see what you have.

Re: Entamoeba fix

Probably better to send me a pm, since Phelsuma are so much fun to photograph (LOL!) I am always behind on updating what I have!

I certainly understand that! Crested are so much easier to photograph! And then there's the Leos, they just sit and look up at you saying "Where's my dinner?" Lol!
