Hi, this came up on a different forum, where I was being slammed for feeding my chahoua Repashy diets. I would love to know if any of you that keep and or breed chahoua use the repashy diets in combination with anything else (please specify) if you use CGD/LGD/GGD or the 2 part diet, or if you use any thing else, and what your results were. Specifically if your chahoua experience any sort of calcium deficiency, or kinking from using the diet.
Thank you everyone in advance for your responses! Please also include in your post your experience with chahoua.

Re: Chahoua and Repashy Diets?
I feed CGD and dusted crix on occasion. Adults, eggs, and juvies are all healthy.

Re: Chahoua and Repashy Diets?
Mine get CGD and the occasional cricket as well. I am curious what do these people on the other forum feed theirs?

Re: Chahoua and Repashy Diets?
I do the same as everyone else. MRP every other day... and lots of it. Then over the weekend, they get a good serving of crickets. The first breeding season for me, they laid a number of eggs with no results. Since then, I have really been coating the crickets with calcium in the spring and summer and have seen some big improvements in hatch rates.

Re: Chahoua and Repashy Diets?
I use the two-part CGD and occasionally feed dubia roaches dusted with Calcium Plus ICB. It's mostly just CGD though, and I've had no problems with them gaining weight or maintaining good calcium reserves.
I also wonder what these other folks have been feeding. It sounds ridiculous that they would bash you for using the diets. ![]() The LGD and GGD are both discontinued products, so if they are feeding any type of Repashy diet at all, it is going to be the CGD (two part or regular)....or at least it will be once all the distributors are out of those products.

Re: Chahoua and Repashy Diets?
CGD and weekly/bi-weekly crickets dusted with repashy Calcium for me as well.
Haven't started breeding yet, but mine seem to love the diet and are growing at a very nice rate. Look very healthy in the process. I'd be curious what they think you should be feeding them, too. |

I feed the same way. I may also note that I only have one juvenile chahoua, but he is pretty happy about his CGD arrangement and eats just as much as my subadult cresteds do... and he's only 7 grams :P

Re: Chahoua and Repashy Diets?
Thanks everyone for your feedback! I would love to hear Alans opinion on the matter, beyond the fact that he makes the diet, but he has raised generations on it, and if something bad was going to crop up because of it, he would have seen it in his time.
Um. I think the guy uses like a lori diet and gutloaded crickets. He didnt get specific, but I kindof remember something like "gecko gormet" Originally when I talked to him about the matter (my messed up gecko that he produced) He attributed it to being the sort of thing that crops up with inbreeding in mainland chahoua. When I posted that on the BOI, he started lying, backtracking, and now he is trying to say that the repashy diets are awful, etc. When, almost everyone I know who keep rhacs, feed repashy, or at the very least repashy mixed with someone else. I am currently formulating a long response to him, after procrastinating, because I have many other things that I need to do in my day-to-day life, but I would love to effectively blow the "Repashy diets for chahoua is garbage" argument out of the water. Some older forum members might remember that I DID NOT feed the diets for a LONG time, and probably only switched my colony over like 2 years ago. My chahoua actually hangs out on the table where I slop the food into all the dishes, and will eat while I put the food into the cages. I am still feeding the CGD, not the 2 part diet, sometimes I mix in some clarks, some times I mix in some fresh fruit, sometimes I mix in like some mango juice instead of water or something. I give them gutloaded, dusted crickets maybe once every week or 2, and feed the diet 2-3 times a week.

Re: Chahoua and Repashy Diets?
I feed my chahouas 2 part Repashy Diet. They have their fave flavors even, and those are the ones that I stick with.
About once a month they will be fed crickets. Some months though I don't get to the pet store and sometimes it's every other month they get crickets. For a treat, once a month to every other month, I mix up the Banana Powder that Matt at Pangea sells, and make them a banana bowl for the night. (No vitamins, just banana). OR I will peel a banana for them and let them lick away and bite at it! They all do love their banana! So, my diet for the chahouas consist MAINLY of just CGD, and I have not had any problems at all. Therefore, I voted "Repashy Diet 100%"
