Hey Everyone,

"have no fear, rey is here!":
I'm back, after weeks of not being around [ last login was 11/25/07], i'm finally back. I found my laptop laying around on the floor, and i hadnt used it because it was giving me a loading error. And so today i had an epiphany and i decided to remove the hard drive, load the system, and then insert the hard drive and to my surprise the laptop was fixed!! so here i am once again!

b.a.b.i.e.s!!!:
i want to introduce you to my hatchlings. I have two hatchlings which just turned 3 months old and are amazing, they're young but they show a lot of personality. And just recently, i just had an egg hatch, and to my surprise came out a beautiful bright yellow satanic.

This leaves me to 3 satanic hatchlings, and 5 eggs incubating which are soon to hatch too.

the colony:
my breeding colony has been a success, sadly i had to sell two of my adults from my breeding colony due to financial difficulties. By doing this, i seem to have disrupted the order of the colony, and for the first time in months, I did not get any fertile eggs. All i had was 6 duds :( .

Hand picking the male was a bit of a challenge, i had to figure out which of my males was the alpha male, and of course i did not want to sell him. I chose one of my female who i felt was not going to be laying as much eggs as the other females. [ she was gravid and within 3 days her being shipped, she laid two fertile eggs to her new owner. of course i knew she was gravid, and he paid a hefty price for the female. ]

so i hope that this month i can get some fertile eggs.

"another hatchling of the uroplatus kind:"
a few months ago i sold my sikorae. A few days later i went to clean her tank, and i dumped all the substrate in my backyard. A few days later i went back, and i was taking a wiz in the backyard. you know watering the plants, and to my surprise i see a dime size egg on top of the substrate from the sikorae's tank. And i immediately knew she had laid a egg. So i took it back into the reptile room, and incubated it. 3 months later [ last week] the egg hatched and i actually was expecting to see a satanic, and to my surprise i saw that the sikorae had hatched. And beautiful it is. It looks just like it's mother. Here's some pics.

Welcome back Rey! We haven't seen you in a while. Glad to hear that things are going well.

Those satanics look great. I can't believe the luck you have with hatching them out...and the unbelievable luck with that sikorae egg that you dumped into the yard. How the heck does that even happen? LOL.

See you around.

Well, well - look what the cat dragged back. Congrats on the higher order thinking first of all - apparently the accident left you unscathed :D

That littel bugger is cute! How big on hatching SVL? TL? What did the egg look like the whole time? How many days total? What were your incubating temperatures and substrate? Humidity?

Come one, you think if you take that much time off we can't immediately pester you for answers and more answers? Ha! I demand knowledge NOW sir (and I'm crossing my arms, stamping my feet, and holding my breath until I get them ;))

Welcome back dude!

lol thanks for the warm welcome.

SVL? TL? huh?

The egg was no different than any other uroplatus egg. Except that it was way bigger than a satanic egg. It was a typical egg, nicely calcified, and it had substrate on it. i still have the egg shell too.

Eventually it seemed a bit more bigger, and i had a tingly feeling inside that it was going to hatch soon. hehe, which is not an actual science. But when i start to get that feeling in me tingling. A few days later i end up with a **** uroplatus.

The temperatures of incubation was always maintained between the high 60's and 75 degrees. Kept under high humidity, close to 100% humidity.

Take mind that i have incubated my eggs on perlite, as well as vermiculite and have been real succesful with them.

Of course i have figured out a few tricks and secret to the never ending mission of breeding uroplatuses. But as long as you keep the humidity and the temperature stable. You'll be good.

I cant give you a period of incubation, because i didn't find the egg in time. Remember i found it accidently. So i don't know how long it was incubating itself in the substrate itself. But after i found it. It was incubated for about a month and a half.

I decided to keep the sikorae and not sell it too. Because to withstand a few days out in the heat of miami, being tumbled out from a vivarium tank, and actually hatching out shows how lucky this sikorae must be.

Dude, you should clue us in on your breeding techniques. ;) We're all looking to increase our success in breeding uroplatus. :)
