I decided to put together a viv with a few plants in, not exactly what they would live on in the wild but more of a mini garden in a viv Heres a couple of photos of the viv and the geckos enjoying it ( any excuse to take photos of reptiles )

Nice setup! I love those Exo-Terra cages that you have, I have alot of them. They are a little pricey, but worth it to me.

Very nice. I like how that looks. Sure looks like the leaftails are enjoying it.

Love the name Tarragon as well. Was going to use that one myself for a crestie once upon a time.

I have had great success with succulents, this one will be a bit trial and error - the soil around it will be kept drier than the rest of the viv and better drained, fingers crossed it will work. If not I will try something else.

He looks like he is crying with that white teardrop by his right eye. Or is he in a gang?

Very nice vivarium you got there, but I have a question for you: Why the use of those succulents in such a tropical setup? Are all the plants fairing well for you? I only ask as two species you have in there, we have in our arid room with cacti, euphorbias, etc.

Hiya
I really like succulents and just wanted to see if they would work in any vivs. I have kept lots before in an alpine garden - quite different to the viv. I know they fair well in well drained dry conditions. I am only spraying the back of the viv and trying to keep the succulents drier. It will be interesting to see if they survive. If they dont then I will simply replace them with something else.

Great pictures and great setup,Ash looks evil in that picture.

How long have you been keeping these?

Have you had any breeding success?

I kept them around 4-5 years ago then hd a two year gap without any. Ive been keeping them for the last two years.
I regained my original pair from my friend, sadly the female died the evening that these photographs were taken - she was around 5 years old. She looked dehydrated on that day - only around her eyes which were ever so slightly sunken, you can only tell on one of the photos and she wasn't interested in eating or drinking. I found her dead in the middle of the night. An autopsy showed no signs of illness. Most likely old age, she was over 5 years old ( exact age unknown). I'm glad she lived a reasonably long life in captivity. Her mate died late last year. RIP little Skye. I'm really sad to lose her, she was my favourite.
They had bred a couple of times for me, but the eggs were infertile.
So now I am left with a female juvenile and adult male.

I do keep them with UV lighting and I supplement them every other feed. I try to offer them a variety of gutloaded prey to ensure a healthy nutritious diet. They really seem to like tiny cockroaches.

If I could obtain more, then I would keep a larger group in a much larger enclosure, but it is incredibly difficult to get them in Europe now. Someone I know used to breed them and phantasticus - he found they were more succesful at breeding when kept in very large enclosures.
