ominously

I'm posting this in response to a request by Baugh for some pics:D , and a thread that was going about tiling a viv. I thought I'd share some pictures of a viv I'm building right now for my ig - 3x5x7, plus stand height and top piece. The pictures included are of the base before and after tiling (grouted, inlaid glass 1/4" plate, siliconed to seal around the perimeter), and of the front panel which is going to frame out the glass I am reusing from an old viv.
The base structure was pieced out of 3/4" plywood, fitted and fastened together using corrugated Brad nails (looks like a razor blade with wavy sides to hold two pieces side by side - you can kind of see them in the pictures). The walls are melamine (not pictured, not yet complete) and the framing is of cherry/maple/oak trim (pieces laying around which were easy to grab and paint). The heating pad will be affixed to the glass panel, and the walls will sit on top of the curb built around the base, being used to prevent water and "juices" from escaping on to the floor (a lesson I learned from a previous enclosure with all glass walls).
Anyhow, this is only the first piece - I'll repost when there's more. I just had some pics on this card and thought I'd share.
