Well as we are in the new year I thought it would be interesting & informative if people added to this thread what their plan's goals are this year with their gecko's.

My plans this year is to get some additional R. chahoua female juveniles to grown on & eventually breed with merv as they are very very hard to come by in the UK.

I'll also be getting a pair of juvenile Leachianus henkeli to grow on & also probably A GT hatchling if I can get one over here.

From a experience/travelling point of view i'll be travelling to Hamm in september to see what its like & meet some of the European members & hopefully get my juvenile pair of Henkeli's & meet Allan if he is planning to go.

In Addition to this I'll be moving house & setting up & proper reptile room with a live webcam feed so i can monitor things from work, i'm not paranoid honest !!

All this with a planned house move & the other half hopefully moving in will make for a busy but fun year.

I'm going to get a leachianus from Phillippe....my husband was going to get me one for Valentine's Day. I just have to figure out what type I want :)

Well let's see... my current plans include...'

Putting my 1.2 cresties together to breed, as soon as they are all up to weight (another month or so), and getting them set up in a sweet naturalistic tank planted with orchids.

Acquiring two male P. kuhli for my 4 female flying geckos, and setting up two trios in custom glass planted cages.

Breeding my Hog Island Boa with a friend's. If that works out successfully, the funds I get from that I will use to expand my collection with some of the following:

Leachies! Hopefully GT, but if funds and/or availability conspire against me, I may 'settle' for henkeli.

Also, I've fallen in love with the Solomon Islands Leaf Frog, Ceratobatrachus guentheri. These awesome guys have direct development, which is a pretty freakin cool mode of repro for an anuran.

And highly unlikely, but a possibility, is some Teratoscincus keyserlingii. I've been gecko-sitting my friends T. scincus, and the little digger's growing on me :)

We shall see which of these plans make it and which don't. I'd love to hear what other people are up to :)

Cheers,
Nick

What a great thread!!! Thanks.
My plans are to:
1. Learn more about my geckos- genetics, vitamin supplementation, and disease prevention/treatment
2. Finalize my web site (especially the information page to hopefully share experiences with other hobbyists)
3. Breed by African Fat tails (normals and amels)
4. Perhaps try something a bit different- day, etc.

Phelsuma standingi is a definite for this year. There are so many others that I'd like to have but unfortunately my bank account begs to differ otherwise.

x69bas420-breeding mix season is fine for about a month, because the females will retain sperm, and keep laying for a while. only keep them together for a bit so they slow down/stop over the winter.

my plans are to:
1-breed my trio (maybe another stud added into the mix...we'll see)
2-hatch some satanics :D
3-get some chahoua *in the works already*
4-learn a lot about all sorts of gecko things
5-start selling to local states online

My plan for 2007-2008 is this so far. Will probably change :)

1. Buy a male crested and breed.
2. Buy a pair of Japanese cave geckos- sell offspring to get my money back
3. Trade offspring of the caves for chewies, cat geckos, and more caves.
4. If I can I'll attempt to make a very nice natural viv. for the caves.
5. NOT GO BROKE :D

1. Breed all my animals, which includes over 20 species and over 60 adults.
2. Get healthy offspring with low mortality rates.
3. Figure out where I'm going to house 400+ offspring this year...

I plan to breed my cave geckos again, and try and get hold of some more to increase my breeding project. Id also like to get hold of one or two female gargoyles and start a breeding project going with those.

What fun to hear all your plans! I've been doing this a long time, so the plan doesn't really change much. Breed what I have paired up (list too long), pair up what I don't have paired up. I will take more pix and finish putting up my art and photo collection in Gecko Ranch. Look for a grand reopening sometime this year!

I am also glad to see many of you including Phelsuma in your plans. I should have more P. standingi available this year!

Find some new housing for my ciliatus. Sell off many when it warms up. Find/Buy as much as possible. Try and breed the rangei. Get more Phelsuma. Find Geckolepis!

In 6 months somebody should make a thread about how your plans for 2007 are going. It would be great to see where everybody is at.

Well 2007 has been a reawakenning already. I had all these future breeding plans, but they were all over the board. You know "Jack of all trades Master of none." So i decided to focus only a few different families and only a few species of each: Coleonyx, Paroedura, Oedura, Cyrtodactylus and Diplodactylus.

My plan is slowly coming together and becoming clearer. By the end of the month I should have 2 more Coleonyx species and 3 Cyrto species to add to my collection. C. brevis are hatching as well as more pictus. I also just found my first clutch of G ulikovski eggs. I guess eeeny eeemeny miiney moe does work for picking out females. Thanks for letting me blab away.

Things are just getting underway here, a few eggs starting to drop. I'll be putting together some new Phelsuma and a leachy pair next week.

Jason, what types of Crytodactylus are you working with? I used to breed C. peguensis. Would love to work with them again, they chirp at night like loud birds! I miss that chirp! I have a reduced file of one chirping on my website if anyone would like to hear!

I am going to work with C pubisulcus, C consobrinus, C pulchellus and an undescribed species. Thanks for your interest.
