View Full Version : Free Gecko Time Again!

 Hey Everyone,
I have been working in the gecko room and have a new group of surplus males available to good homes once again. In case you weren't around for the previous offer, check this thread (http://www.forums.repashy.com/showthread.php?t=3994).
These geckos are offered free of charge and are not to be resold for profit. You can give them away as gifts, or keep them for yourself, but you will be cursed forever if you sell these animals! :)
I don't have time to pick geckos out for people based on size/color/pattern... You will get what I send and you will like it ;) They are all males and none of them have tails. Any custom requests will be ignored.... sorry, I just don't have the time.
This is first come first serve, Priority will be given to VERIFIED members. If you want geckos, send me a pm with your shipping address, ship date preference, a statement of what you are going to do with them, and how many geckos you want, and if there are geckos available, I will let you know right away.
I will be shipping on Tuesday's for Wednesday deliveries over the next few weeks.
The fine print
I have added one condition to the free gecko give away since the last time. In order to receive your free gecko from me, you must purchase at least one pound of any of the superfoods from one of my retailers, and send me a proof of purchase. This isn't just a reason to sell diets. This is what these gecko are eating exclusively, and I want to insure you are taking steps to care for them properly.
You may take as many as three geckos IF I have availability, and if you promise they will go to good hands. You must pay the shipping costs from my facility which would be $35.00 (cost is the same for one gecko as three, as they all fit in the same box)
Proof of purchase can be an email from seller to me or copy of paypal payment verification. I will send you a pm with instructions for sending freight payment once conditions have been met and geckos are available.
Enjoy! Allen

People please. I just got a ton of PM's, and nearly every one was from people asking questions that are answered in my post or the connected thread.
Please read my post and don't pm me a bunch of questions that I have already answered.
There are links to where you can buy the diets on the store section of the website.
I can not ship the geckos out of the lower 48 States. Sorry.
The only information you need to send me is proof of purchase of the diets, your shipping address, and which Wednesday you want to recieve them..... it's that simple :)

Last time I checked, Canada was not part of the lower 48 states.

I believe shipping to canada runs $300-400 including some paper work. to justify an order you would need to purchase $1,000 worth of animals to justify the work that goes into getting it done, so in other words, that's why he's only shipping to the lower 48 states.

are you jokeing?
Andrew Gilpin
11-23-2006, 09:13 AM
I'm 100% serious, that's why not very many people ship from the united states to canada. The only reason to ship would be if there is a large order taking place, and for animals that you can't really get in your own country. People from the U.S. have cresteds, and people from Canada have their own cresteds.... so there isn't much point in shipping them from country to country. Overnight shipping isn't cheap, and can be upwards of $750 if you're talking about shipping to Germany or some place out of North America, along with quite a bit of paperwork and permits depending on the species being shipped.
Andrew Gilpin
11-23-2006, 09:16 AM
Allen, I just had a question also.... do previous orders ( maybe within the past month) of CGD qualify for the offer if someone still has proof of purchase? Or does the order have to be after this offer was put up?

Soo.. we send the pm with our shipping address, ship date preference, a statement of what you are going to do with them, and how many geckos we want, THEN buy the food and give him that information? Or is this information all together?
I admit to wondering about the food thing myself. I buy mine in smaller bottles from Petco because I don't want it to go bad/go to waste. I didn't think he'd accept a scan of the receipt, plus it’s on the smaller bottles (and he said 1lb), so I didn't apply for a gecko. ^^;

The food certainly won't go to waste - you save $ by buying a pound or more and the food will last many months in your fridge in it's new handy zip-lock container.
How many months would you guess? Because if it lasts for quite a while, I would get it in bulk.

I think Allen said three months in the fridge once opened. Correct me if I got that wrong Allen!
My small bottles last a month though, that’s feeding each gecko that six days a week and with them getting more than they eat (as in there's always some left over).

Ok... the geckos were shipped today to people that paypaled me for the shipping. I am getting so many freaking emails about this that I just can't return them all. The directions are pretty simple. If you don't know how to send money via paypal, visit their homepage and follow their directions, don't ask me to teach you. You can set up an account or use a credit card. If you don't want to do that, then you can't get any geckos. I am sorry if I sound short, but I got nearly a hundred messages and emails from everyone and I just don't have the time to help everyone. Giving away free geckos has become a LOT of work LOL.
There are still plenty of geckos to do it again next week.
Thanks, Allen
The weather today is very cold and I was not able to ship to Nebraska or Iowa, so if you are in one of those states, we will have to try again next Tuesday.

are there a lot left, or none left? i know a father looking for a pet for his son, who he says is sensitive to the needs of the animal and would be kind to it. if you're still looking for homes, i can refer him to you and you can decide what you think..

I am working on oders for shipping today, so if you have paid for shipping, You should receive geckos tomorrow. It is still too cold in some places though. I am leaving tonight for Germany and will drop off all the orders at Sandfire for shipment. They will hold the geckos going to cold locations and ship if the weather allows later in the week. If you can not receive geckos later this week, or need to check on them, please email Rommie rommie@sandfiredragonranch.com Please don't bother him unless it is important and you can't take shipment on certain days.He is doing me a big favor and I don't want him to regret it. There are a dozen or so shipments going today.

Never mind! They FINALLY got here at 7pm.... didnt think they delived that late! I was very worried but they are safe and sound in their new homes getting used to them and exploring... here are some pics :)
Poor little guys were freezing tho! I held them each for a couple mins with my bf and roomie who complained about getting them and then when they got here didnt want to leave them alone to settle in! lol. anyway... onto pictures!
Here is the first little guy, very adorable :)
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h254/StikyPaws312/DSC01808.jpg
I'm thinking about naming him either smudge b/c of his back pattern or mink b.c i like the name, lol it kinda goes with saucy's little Meep, hehe :-D
Here is the one i am absolutely in love with b/c he glows and i have SO wanted a little orangey yellow one :)
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h254/StikyPaws312/DSC01810.jpg
Im thinking about naming him pumpkin or squash, hehe. He is also adorable and friendly... my bf's holding him in the pic... he did jump to the floor about a second after that pic tho... missed the bed we were holding them over, woops.
And here is the 3rd big guy, whom i think has beautiful dark coloring... and he came covered in poo.... ick.... so he's all wet from his little spray bath a gave him before the pics
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h254/StikyPaws312/DSC01816.jpg
He's got 1/2 a tail.... lol
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h254/StikyPaws312/DSC01814.jpg
Im thinking about naming him midnight but im not sure yet, we'll see :)
They are are stunning (im also guessing that they were fired up for these photos but who knows?) they are also very handlable but that could just be b/c they were freezing there bums off and i was nice and warm...
I love em! Thank you so much Allen!!!! :D

Hi Colleen,
I will probably look for a reasonably priced gecko somewhere on this forum or in our local Petsmart or Petco. I have been searching for a gecko to adopt for the longest time and I came across this forum, however, I didn't know how popular this forum and the little geckos were! There are over 800 views of Allen's current post alone and over 1000 from his first summer post. I can't even imagine how many emails he has gotten.
I am hoping to become verified as a member soon so that I can take advantage of future offers and other resources that everyone in Allen's forum has to offer. I have followed all of the steps mentioned in another thread.
I feel that a gecko will be a great addition to our family, as my sons are highly allergic to anything furry.
I do hope to hear from Allen soon either way.
Thank you for the food info Colleen!
And if anyone is willing to part with one of their cresteds from their order from Allen, please let me know. We won't discriminate against crestie colors!

Thanks!

I read it ,but I was thinking. He said that he wants you to buy it not because of sales ,but to make sure your feeding them superfoods. Whats the difference between a bottle and a bag. Same food......... Anyways it was just a thought. I'll buy a pound. I've been looking for big bags anyways.

I got mine too! They are just beautiful! I will post pics in a day or so. UPS left them on my doorstep- I live in WI. It was a lot warmer today. I have been home and they did not even knock on the door- jerks. They were all so cold. One of them got out of his container and I think had a rough ride. He tried to bite me.

12-12-2006, 12:28 PM
Oh my... mine were a bit cold too, but not too bad. I grabbed the temp gun and they temped at 60 degrees, so I think they felt colder than they really were. UPS banged on my door and made me sign for mine.

Mine arrived a few minutes after 10 AM. The UPS guy left them by the door! They were merely frozen. I first thought they were dead because they did not budge when I tried taking them out. One pooped on himself and got a warm bath, and one tried to bite me when I finally managed to get him out. I put them on the still active heat pack and they stayed there all day. They are now doing great! I will post pics soon.

I have a question he (meaning allen)would like people to buy 1 pound of that food, Which isnt a problem except I only have 1 gecko and the food expires in half a year, There is no way it would last, I guess what i'm asking is if we can buy smaller poritions of it, or do you know? But sorry again!

Expiring in 6 months is a possibility of opened food containers not kept in the fridge. It will last. Just put what you are not using in the fridge or the freezer. No worries! :)

They came today! And I was very surprised to find 3 males when I only requested 1. I always have a few extra habitats around for situations such as this. They are beautiful, all three are chocolately olive and have white fringe around their back legs. One is covered in spots, one is near patternless, and the last one (my fav of the trio) has a white flame running down his back. Thank you very much Allen! I'll try to post some pictures after work tonight!
I got mine this morning too! I also got three, but was expecting one. I have a friend running to the store to get me two more habitats.
They are absolutely gorgeous! I'll post more when I get them settled in.
Thanks SO much, Allen!!!
Here are two of my three. The lighting near the third enlosure was too dim for a pic.

Good news and New news..... I still have geckos available, but it has just been way more work coordinating everything for me to add to my crazy schedule right now.
I will be sending two dozen Male's to Pangea next week, Nick Esposito and probably some to AC Reptiles. They will be giving them away directly to their customers... So please contact them for your free geckos and enjoy them!
