Found this little guy hatched out this evening weighing in at a whopping .3 grams ( just under 1/5 the avg. hatchling crested size):

and here's a photo of his wicked lookin mama that Sarah snapped:

Interesting to note that we picked her up at the end of June, and she had been in the country for about a month. We got a couple of infertile eggs in August, and this egg that hatched was found Oct. 8th.... since then we've gotten several other clutches from this female, who hasn't been with a male since we got her. This puts phantasticus sperm retention at a minimum of 6 months, pretty interesting and certainly a bonus for us :)

Tiny little bug isn't it? I just hatched out another helmeted gecko yesterday, and the next youngest ones of that species I have are at least 3 months old and growing like weeds. Since that time I've only been getting ciliatus hatchlings, so when one of these tiny little guys hatches again, it always comes as a shock... I hope my lateralis colony is still producing some tiny nymphs or I might have some trouble getting food items small enough for them. My lateralis colony always slows way down in the winter time, due to the lower humidity I believe. What do you feed the little satanics?

Congratulations on your little one!

Gary

Nice work on the helmeteds Gary :)
Like you, we're feeding B lateralis nymphs. Usually until the satanics are about 3 months old or so, and then they start taking the B. dubia nymphs.

We still think mom is definitely an insane looking satanic (in a positive way of course)!!

Nice. My first female I ever got laid a clutch the night I got her, and also laid a clutch well after her cagemate died.

That is really awesome. Congratulations on another awesome little hatchling. I'm super happy that you two are having luck with the satanics. It's always great to see more of them being hatched out.

Now to only get the rest of them producing for you. ;)
