how long have you had that monitor? I've thought about getting them but I've head to many bad things abou them being aggresive when they start to get bigger.

his name is el diablo negro... figure it out. and in response to you dragonflames, ive had him about 3-4 weeks and he started out really nasty. he bit me once on the nuckle but it didnt even hurt cause hes roughly 16 inches long. he now doesnt even try to bit me due ot hte fact that we take him out a lot and dont feed him until we take him out first. hearing that it could get nasty when its older is just one of those chances youd have to take. the black throats are one of the bigger monitors but they are so much fun. i love ours and is so much fun to take out and to feed. he eats like a pig and is just awesome

Will he get as big as a white throated monitor?

im not sure as compared to the white throat but im guessing its probably the same. the black throat can grow 4-5 feet the first year and up to 7+ if full grown.

with a lizard getting that big, which do you prefer the whole give them a room or do you just make a really big cage for them? Cause when I had iguanas and a couple of them I had where 4 ft plus, I had to have a whole room for them.

its really your preference and their preference. i mean the bigger the better obviously for the most part. Im not sure what im going to do yet but im pretty sure im just going to build a really big enclosure for him maybe in a room that way i dont have to build the whole cage but really its whatever is more comfortable for the reptile and you as long as it has space.
